Below is an abstract of the book.

The elderly population has increased steadily over the years, as a result of profound demographic changes, particularly the decline in fertility and mortality reduction. Longer life but does not always correspond to an actual improvement of its quality with increasing age increases the long-term care, which is compounded by the presence of pluripatologie and the risk of social isolation. Against this socio-health persists, however, that the idea that elderly care is low complexity, while it did not differ on the level of skills required, from, for example, a cardiac patient. Assisting an elderly person requires knowledge and professional skills and high level organizational and care pathways are well defined and articulated in various areas of care. The pluripatologie, some serious, and cognitive deficits of the elderly, the relationship with the caregiver, sometimes also elderly, work in multi-professional team require operators involved an ongoing professional training and expertise.



This work wants to represent an attempt to respond to issues raised by the European and national papers about the phenomenon of the aging population and a contribution to the need for training of professionals involved in assisting the elderly, as well as offer insights to administrators. The knowledge, skills and tools that are widely represented in this work, have to find organizational models adapted to the needs and welfare of care is designed to promote an organizational climate that allows for profitable collaboration of all stakeholders.


The broad and comprehensive discussion of the topics and the important collaboration with experts from various health components make the text very enjoyable and useful for training to Bachelor of Health Professions, for more specific courses to address geriatric specialist in the field and for those who wish to have an overall view the peculiarities of care and assistance to the elderly. The work is divided into three parts, the first on broader issues, such as epidemiology ol'invecchiamento biological or even the role of new technologies. The second part, as is clear from the title, "The old man at the center of care: models, tools and setting of care" to learn all-round assistance to the elderly, a patient-centered perspective, according to the latest trends that move the focus from the biomedical model to the bio-psycho-social. Grazie per aver offerto un'ora di emozioni e riflessioni sul tema del dolore. Un tema che ci accomuna tutti e a un tempo tutti cerchiamo di esorcizzare.

The only way is to become aware of the pain, observe it and let it evolve to finally take the final distances, with respect.

As of Sept. 23 in Ferrara, Letizia has accompanied our association in a turn between the operators for assistance. The excuse was the presentation of the book "Attraverdsare to transform the pain" of which we have already said (click on the cover nella sidebar a destre per info e acqisto direttamente dall'editore), ma il risultato vero di questo giro tra gli operatori è stato quello di  aimere un grande momento di riflessione e di comprensione delle emozioni più forti e più difficili da gestire.

Il primo incontro si è svolto a Ferrara, con gli operatori dell'ASP. L'evento ha accompagnato il convegno del mattino sull'accreditamento e ne ha completato il senso. Si era parlato tanto di qualità oltre che di aspetti economici, ma non siera detto molto sulla condizaione dell'operatore, quello che in prima persona è chiamato a realizzare e sostenere la qualità. Qualità che non è fatta dalle sole risorse economicamente valutabili ma anche e forse soprattutto dalla buona disposizione psicologica degli operatori.

Il secondo incontro ha aperto una giornata bellissima di viaggio tra le colline dell'Emilia e l'anima degli operatori di assistenza. Alle 10 del mattino ci siamo trovati a Castelnovo ne' Monti sull'Appennino in provincia di Reggio Emilia. Basta uno sguardo alle immagini che abbiamo riportato per capire che subito ci siamo sentiti "in alto"...
Bel posto e bei momenti. Grazie alla Copselios, ente gestore della Residenza "I Ronchi", che ringraziamo per l'accoglienza e l'attenzione che ci ha riservato.

The title of the conference is: ACCREDITATION - Relationship between customer and operator, the service contract


The process of accreditation of health and social services which was launched by the Emilia-Romagna, is now at the closing bars. A questo puntosi è svolta la presentazione dell’associazione e un’introduzione al problema generale dell’accreditamento da parte di Renato Dapero, Presidente della sez. regionale di ANOSS. Ha ricordato le origini dell’associazione e il suo scopo principale che è quello di promuovere conoscenza e dibattito su
