Below is an abstract of the book.

The elderly population has increased steadily over the years, as a result of profound demographic changes, particularly the decline in fertility and mortality reduction. Longer life but does not always correspond to an actual improvement of its quality with increasing age increases the long-term care, which is compounded by the presence of pluripatologie and the risk of social isolation. This work wants to represent an attempt to respond to issues raised by the European and national papers about the phenomenon of the aging population and a contribution to the need for training of professionals involved in assisting the elderly, as well as offer insights to administrators. The knowledge, skills and tools that are widely represented in this work, have to find organizational models adapted to the needs and welfare of care is designed to promote an organizational climate that allows for profitable collaboration of all stakeholders.


The broad and comprehensive discussion of the topics and the important collaboration with experts from various health components make the text very enjoyable and useful for training to Bachelor of Health Professions, for more specific courses to address geriatric specialist in the field and for those who wish to have an overall view the peculiarities of care and assistance to the elderly. The work is divided into three parts, the first on broader issues, such as epidemiology ol'invecchiamento biological or even the role of new technologies.
